# How to learn with Sentence Monster

Last updated: 2026-09-13

Sentence Monster helps language learners turn vocabulary into sentences they can actually write. It combines short sentence exercises, AI-generated prompts, answer feedback, and personalized review of words that need more practice.

This is the official learning guide for the web service at www.sentencemonster.com and the iOS app named Sentence Monster. You can read this guide without signing in.

## Who is Sentence Monster for?

Sentence Monster is for learners who recognize words but hesitate when they need to use those words in a sentence. Each exercise asks you to produce an answer rather than only read a vocabulary definition.

The focus is active recall in context: choosing words, putting them in an appropriate order, and using them to express a meaning. Short exercises let you concentrate on one sentence at a time.

## Start practicing

1. **Sign in or create an account.** Open the Sentence Monster website and select Start to open the sign-in dialog. Sign in with your account, or complete account registration. You can also use the Sentence Monster iOS app. An account connects practice to your saved learning history.

2. **Choose your languages.** Set the language you understand and the language you want to practice. For example, a Korean speaker practicing English can choose Korean as the source language and English as the learning language. The service uses your level and learning history when preparing practice.

3. **Read the prompt and build a sentence.** Start sentence practice and read the prompt. Compose an answer in the learning language. Use the available word tiles to build the sentence, or use text input where available. Think about both the meaning and the order of the words.

4. **Submit and use the feedback.** Submit your answer to check it. Review the result and any explanation, then try again when the answer needs work. Depending on the exercise and remaining attempts, the app may show a reference answer before you continue.

5. **Keep practicing the words that need work.** Continue to the next exercise. Sentence Monster uses earlier attempts to select vocabulary for later practice, including missed, weak, and fading words. A word can return in another sentence so you practice using it again.

6. **Review your progress.** Use the progress and vocabulary views to revisit your learning history. Return for another practice session and keep working on words you cannot yet use confidently. Available usage depends on your current plan.

## An example sentence exercise

Imagine practicing the English words book, read, and evening. A prompt about a regular reading habit could lead to the sentence: I read a book every evening.

The learning task is to recall the meaning and assemble a complete sentence. After submitting an answer, you use the feedback to check your understanding. The example illustrates the practice method; actual prompts vary with the selected languages, level, and learning history.

## How personalized vocabulary review works

Sentence Monster uses practice history to decide which words to bring back. Review is connected to your earlier answers, so vocabulary that needs attention can appear in later exercises.

- New words introduce vocabulary you have not practiced yet.

- Missed words return after mistakes so you can try using them again.

- Weak words get more practice when your history suggests they are not secure yet.

- Fading words return after earlier practice to help you revisit what you may be forgetting.

## Supported learning languages

Sentence Monster supports sentence practice across 15 learning languages: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Russian.

Choose the learning language inside the app. This guide is written in English; selecting a learning language does not require a separate website.
